Spring has happened all of a sudden today. I'm wearing a sleeveless T-shirt with nothing over it and I have bare feet (and I'm not cold) for the first time this year. I feel great! Suddenly I'm alive again.
I went outside, because it wasn't cold and because I didn't have to get my shoes and put them on first, and spent some time in the garden pulling up what few stunted weeds have managed to grow. Cliff came out to lend a hand, because cats just love gardening. This time he helped me by leaping at the weeds I was throwing over my shoulder and pouncing on my hand at unexpected moments. He especially liked the crackly dead silverbeet leaves I was chucking around; I joined in the game a little over-enthusiastically and threw some of the leaves nearly onto the roof.
I've been living like a zombie for months, I'd forgotten what it felt like to be happy and I didn't even realise anything was wrong. It's great to be able to have my feet freed from socks, and I don't know why but wearing sleeveless tops and having my shoulders out is the most wonderful feeling. I can finally move my arms again.
Edit: Here's Cliff in the silverbeet.

Date: 2007-09-15 08:33 am (UTC)I have to wear socks and slippers inside all winter, otherwise I lose circulation to my toes. You're probably able to handle bare feet at much lower temperatures. It's to do with being Canadian, isn't it :P
