She is impossibly cute, especially in the one where she is on her back with her paws upward! Glad to see the two of them are getting along so well so soon. As you noted you got her at an age where she was too young to be completely feral and your kind, loving attention to her should make her more than friendly to humans than her mom probably was.

Knowing what I know of cats I doubt the a mother would have abandon her babies at that age. What is more than likely is that she had some sort of accident or fight with another cat that left her very injured or tragically not alive. The weaker sibling probably perished waiting for mommy to return. But don't be sad... you saved this cutie's life and I'm sure she'll have a much better life than the one she was set to have if she hadn't been faced with whatever tragedy struck her mommy.

How is the eye that was injured? Have you made sure she can see out of it well? Hopefully it was just some nasty scratch or something that left her in a bit of pain at the beginning but nothing permanent. Judging by the later photos the eye looks much better.
