I've worked things out in a dream, dreamed in German and Hebrew, done translations (even remembering French words I thought I'd forgotten), and often stood back and said "that doesn't make sense". :-)
I can usually trace my dreams back to things I've thought about, watched, or read the day before, and regard them as side effects of the nighly backup and reorganise. I'm not surprised there's some consciousness in there as we have to be fairly alert for predators etc. :-P
